Ross Key Country receives “Overwhelming” response to live interview

Lynchburg, VA, August 16, 2010: - During the one hour “Beyond Country” live radio show on WDHC 92.9 FM - located in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia - the studio phone lines never stopped ringing once Ross Key performed his first song on his six-string acoustic guitar on the air, an instrumental titled Under the Double Eagle. The show’s host, Disc Jockey “The Doctor” - Ed Asher - interviewed the professional singer/songwriter and master musician, Ross Key of Ross Key Country, a native of Lynchburg, Virginia. Fielding as many of the calls as possible during the hour-long show, Asher stated, “I have never had such an overwhelming response during any show.”

Key and his personal manager, Brenda Porter, had expected to give away two CDs during the interview, but ended up contributing a total of four due to the number of calls received. Asher has asked Key to return in the future for another interview.

Ross Key also performed two of his original songs during the show. Saturday Night, which currently holds the number one spot on ReverbNation’s local country music chart for Lynchburg, Virginia and has held the position since January 2010. He also sang his upcoming release titled Little Bungalow. It has fluctuated on NumberOneMusic, a global chart, hitting number one there and recently had three of the band's songs in the Top Ten.

During the interview, Asher asked Key where he would like to perform that he hasn’t yet. Ross immediately replied, “The Grand Ole Opry.” Key stated he sold his first song, The Prodigal Son, through ASCAP without retaining any rights back in the mid-80s. The Statler Brothers recorded the song and was later performed on the Grand Ole Opry by Larry Gaitlin.

Prior to the show, Asher said he would talk to the station’s Program Director in regards to putting Key’s song, Saturday Night, into regular rotation. By the end of the show, Asher told Key the song would be put into rotation immediately and would play again within the hour.

“I never expected the response I received from WDHC 92.9 FM listeners,” Key said. “I thought we’d be doing good to give away two of my CDs. I want to extend my sincere appreciation to the people of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia and those who listened in throughout the coverage area.”

Ross Key Country is represented by BMI in Nashville, Tennessee; 20 South Promotions in Charlottesville, Virginia; and, Buttonwood Productions in Lynchburg, Virginia. Ross is also a direct descendent of Francis Scott Key, the author of our nation's National Anthem, The Star Spangled Banner.

ABOUT ROSS KEY COUNTRY
Ross Key Country performs traditional country, bluegrass, and gospel music. He began playing guitar at 12 years of age when his brother gave him a guitar and a Willie Nelson album, The Redheaded Stranger, for Christmas. Self-taught, Key learned every song on the album. At 16, Key traveled abroad with the Boy Scouts of America and performed before King Gustaf of Sweden and many other dignitaries throughout Europe. He traveled professionally with Roy Campbell and the Nashville Sound—a country music band based in Lynchburg, Virginia—at the age of 15. He has fronted for such well known entertainers as Willie Nelson, Alabama, Hank Williams Jr., Ronnie Milsap, Emmylou Harris, Freddy Fender, and many more. Key also sit-in on stage with Willie Nelson. He later moved from country music into the professional bluegrass circuit performing with Lower 40 Grass. He switched over to the professional gospel circuit, and traveled with the Vessels of God. He left his professional career to raise a family in Campbell County, Virginia in the early 90s. In early 2009, his current personal manager, Brenda Porter, heard him performing in a private setting. That meeting marked Ross Key’s return to the one true love of his life, the professional country music circuit. For more information and booking, visit www.rosskeycountry.com.

PRESS RELEASE 02/21/2010

ROSS KEY COUNTRY TO HEADLINE AT EVINGTON SPRING FESTIVAL
Community event promises activities for the whole family

LYNCHBURG, VA, February 21, 2010: The Evington Community Association (ECA) will be holding its 2nd Annual Evington Spring Festival on Saturday, March 27, 2010 from 2:00pm until 6:00pm on the grounds of the Evington Ruritan Club. This is a rain or shine event.

This year the ECA has added live music to the day's events with Lynchburg native, and former Evington citizen, Ross Key of Ross Key Country who will headline this year's event. Ross Key Country will perform traditional country music throughout the day with breaks featuring music by Classic Country Karaoke's, Bill and Betty White, who are residents of the Evington community.

Ross Key Country is affiliated with BMI in Nashville, Tennessee. He has been a professional musician since his mid-teens, beginning his professional career with Roy Campbell and the Nashville Sound. He has over 30 years of professional and semi-professional experience in the entertainment business and re-embarked on his career in early 2009. Already making waves in the industry, Key has a number one hit - Saturday Night - on ReverbNation's local country music chart. Buttonwood Productions organized a Release Celebration event last month in recognition of the single release CD on Amazon.com.

He will begin his "Resurrecting Music Row" tour in May of this year, touring the country. He has written and composed a song specifically for the tour also titled Resurrecting Music Row.  "This is something that is very close to my heart," Key stated. "Country music is beginning to sound more and more like rock. Traditional country is being smothered by the new sound. It's not that I have a problem with the avenue now taken by Nashville, because I have a lot of respect for what Taylor Swift has accomplished for herself. But, Nashville seems to have forgotten what many of us still want to hear. There is still room for all the sub-genres of country music, but traditional country seems to have been removed from the rosters. It's time those who feel the way I do to step up to the mic and say so."

At 47, Key states he paid his dues long ago, performing those "lying and cheating" songs. And since stepping back into the arena, he has found that many will still buy them. Many still want to hear them. "I've got fans around the world that range in age from late teens to seniors well beyond my age. I get requests for songs that I haven't performed in decades. That's satisfaction. And it tells me that while music producers are after the new country, they may be overlooking what will become the next big thing in country music. A return to the basics...traditional country music that made country music big. I certainly don't profess to be the one who is turning this around. I'm just one of the few remaining messengers of traditional country music."

"When my personal manager got the call from ECA, I wanted to give something back to the community where I had once lived, and I feel honored that I have this opportunity. I also wanted to bring in local talent to keep the music going all day, and I couldn't think of anyone else I'd rather have present than Bill and Betty White of Classic Country Karaoke, who also have a strong conviction to country music's roots," Key added. "When I was in my early teens, I used to hang out at Shady Valley Bluegrass Park, which no longer exists, and pick with some of the best musicians such as Stan Dudley, Les Woody, and Bascom Hicks, who in my opinion are some of this area's biggest legends."

PRESS RELEASE 01-19-10

LOOKING BACK AT 2009: A Word From Ross Key

When I re-embarked on my music career back in the Spring of 2009 after a 15+ year hiatus, I didn't think I would make a lot of headway to re-establish myself. With my song, Saturday Night, still on paper and just performed sitting in someone's living room or at a cookout, I never thought it would make much of an impact on any chart. After only one week here on ReverbNation.com, it soared to the Top 10 local country chart to the #9 spot. Then it jumped to #4 in just a week or so. And here, 5 months later, it is still on the Top 10 local chart at #1! So thank you, to all of you, who have played the song on my website, at NumberOneMusic, or on ReverbNation. Saturday Night also held the #1 spot on the Traditional Country chart over on NumberOneMusic.com for a couple of weeks. It's played on Clear Channel radio as well. And, now...Saturday Night will be released on Amazon.com for purchase as a Single Release CD or Mp3 download within the next few weeks.

I also know that it takes marketing and promotions behind the scenes to even get your name out there. I've been fortunate to have someone with experience and training in this field. It's something that most artists spend years trying to acquire. I have a line of promotional items such as t-shirts, calendars, hats, mugs, tote bags, etc. that my promotional manager has had developed. The release of my single to a global audience in less than a year is phenomenal alone.

My fans. What can I say? I'm thrilled that so many support me and my music. I never dreamed I'd get fanmail. There again, I've been proven wrong. I consider myself as a messenger for traditional country music. Music Row has gone through an unbelieveable transformation and what made country music, country music, has all but disappeared. I hope to resurrect that sound for so many who still love the good ol' country music. To my surprise over the past year, many of my fans are young adults...late teens and early to mid 20s. That's been one of my biggest inspirations since my return to music. I wouldn't be where I am without your support. My fans...all around the world...I could never thank you enough. All I ask is that you continue to support traditional country music. It would be devastating for that foundation to crumble and erode into nothingness. Forever lost.

In summary, I think I have had a most successful 2009. All because of my fans, family, friends, and the people who have worked so diligently behind the scenes. I can't begin to thank everyone or to describe how I feel. Thank you so much.

"SATURDAY NIGHT" SINGLE RELEASE CD CELEBRATION

Awesome! It was just totally awesome! If you couldn't make it to the release celebration held on Thursday, January 7 at Moose Lodge 715 in Lynchburg, Virginia, you missed one heck of a party! Music was non-stop and everyone had a fantastic time. Ross Key Country played to a full house all night. Ross was joined by Classic Country Karaoke - Bill and Betty White - and supporters from as far away as the Bristol, Tennessee area. Bob "Smokey" Moore joined Ross on stage, playing bass. Smokey and his wife, Bernice, added to the mix of non-stop music by doing a couple of traditional country songs. There were surveys on the tables for addendees to complete. One liked everything and will attend other RKC shows although they stated they didn't like traditional country music. Now, folks, that's what making an impact/impression is all about! RKC gave away two Saturday Night single release CDs as door prizes.

UPCOMING TELEVISION, STAGE, RADIO APPEARANCES

Ross Key Country will be making a taping to air on television in the Bristol, Tennessee area around the end of January or first part of February. A definite date for the taping is currently being arranged to coincide with his upcoming appearances in that area as well as one in the Asheville, North Carolina area. There is also a radio station in Richmond, Virginia who has requested his song, Saturday Night, for airplay and, hopefully, a live interview. Be sure to watch for listings on ReverbNation and here on RKC's official website for appearance dates as they come in.

PRESS RELEASE 12-12-09

Looking Back At 2009 and Ahead At 2010

Lynchburg, VA, December 12, 2009: With lots going on in his career over the past eight months, Ross Key of Ross Key Country, has had little time to slow down. He's played locally and regionally during the early part of the year, and then branched out to play in states up and down the east coast. When asked how he thought the year had gone for him, Key stated, "Considering where I started eight or nine months ago, and where I am today, I believe 2009 has been successful for me. I've got a song I wrote and perform that has held a Top 10 spot on ReverbNation's country music chart for the state of Virginia over the last five months. Saturday Night has now held the number three spot for three of those months and is still climbing. Although I'm on an indie label, I have had A&R out of New York call wanting me to sign on with them. And I'm still waiting to hear back from Metzgar with Universal as to whether or not I'm getting in on their 2010 roster. Touring has been good. I've got a great publicist."

Coming up next month on Thursday, January 7, 2010 Ross Key Country will celebrate with an official release party for his hit, Saturday Night, at Moose Lodge 715 located at 3207 Lakeside Drive in Lynchburg, Virginia. The event will begin at 7:30 PM and RSVP is strongly encouraged. Reservations should be emailed to RKC@rosskeycountry.com. Ross Key Country will be performing throughout the evening. Special guest appearances are being lined up and the evening promises to be exciting. The release party will be in conjunction with his "After the party's over, RKC still parties" 2010 event.

Key stated he hoped the turnout would be substantial. Not so much in support of him, but in support of traditional country music on a whole, which many - including Key - believes to be in danger of extinction. While this year has been dubbed as "Taylor Swift's World", and Key takes nothing away from her for what she has accomplished, it's her style of music that is taking over Nashville. And, although Key has had many tell him, "no one wants to hear those cheatin', drinkin' songs", he has to chuckle.

"I've stepped back onto the stage and been told that mostly by other entertainers. Yet, within a week or two, they are up on stage singing the same songs I've always sung. Imitation is a good thing. But, that aside, the audience response is the barometer. And I've gotten fantastic feedback from them. It really means something when you've got the younger crowd - late teens to late twenties - supporting you along with all those my age and older who still love traditional country music."

Want to meet this down-to-earth-always-the-same entertainer? Be sure to RSVP to attend the January 7, 2010 event. Because the Moose Lodge is a private organization, if you are not a member, be sure to RSVP so arrangements can be made.

Ross Key Country Demo CD ○2009Ross Key Country Demo CD Available
A Live Recording
Lynchburg, VA, July 12, 2009: Ross Key Country (RKC) made his "come-back" debut at Moose Lodge 715 in Lynchburg, Virginia on July 4, 2009 to a large crowd. Joined by friends - Jack "Skipper" Brooks and Billy "Blue Eyes" Taylor - RKC successfully pulled off a five-hour show. Special appearances by Harlow and one of Nashville's most talented and recognized dobro players, Butch Bobbitt, made Key's debut even more meaningful. "I learned to play guitar and dobro with these two 30 years ago," Key said. "I had no idea they were coming out to encourage me. It was an emotional day for me. Butch and Harlow were very inspirational to me. I also learned about stage presence from them." With his sound tech on location, a live recording of the show was created.

Once the recording was in the studio, Key and his personal manager picked out the songs they wanted for the demo, and Buttonwood Productions digitally arranged the five songs onto one track for mass production. The finished demo includes two (2) instrumentals - Under the Double Eagle and Long Hard Ride - Good Hearted Woman, Saturday Night©, and Remember Me. Saturday Night© is original material written, composed, and performed by Ross Key Country.

When asked if plans had been pre-arranged to do a live recording for demo purposes, Key responded, "All I do is show up where I'm told to and play. That's my job. Everyone else makes those decisions. However, I'm glad to have a demo out." RKC also added that Under the Double Eagle was chosen because it has always been his "signature" song of any show he has performed over the past 30 years. The demo is live on RKC's website at http://www.rosskeycountry.com.

What's in the future for RKC? Key stated, "I've been told that two CD's are planned to be released before Christmas. One will be a holiday song soundtrack and the other will be my first full CD release." Key also added that he wanted to thank everyone for turning out on July 4th and making his professional re-entry into the music field so successful.
